STARSkate 2026/2027

FUNDRAISING / VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

Our club is a not for profit society that is run entirely by volunteers. Board members act on behalf of the club to ensure that it operates smoothly, however we still need additional volunteers to warrant successful club events, programs and fundraising events.

Requirements Rubric for skaters registered for 
PreSTARSkate and STARSkate FALL 2026 and WINTER 2027:

COMMITMENT CATEGORY	MINIMUM REQUIREMENT	DESCRIPTION*	ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Volunteer Time	5 hours for the first skater and 1.5 hours for each additional skater in the family	$200 Bond added to account of STARSkaters. Bond does not apply to CanSkate or PreCanSkate participants.	Parents track hours and submit to club president. Hours to be accumulated by supporting club programs throughout the season.

Bottle Drive	Each skater must attend two (2) bottle drives	Sept 13, 2026 Nov 8, 2026 January 10, 2027 March 7, 2027	Bottle drive dates will be posted to the IESC website and notice board
AGM Attendance	One (1) parent in attendance per family	N/A	The exact date will be posted to the IESC website and notice board.
Skate a Thon	All registered skaters are challenged to skate 25 laps	Collect $25 in pledges OR pay $25 entry fee. **entry fee will be waived for skaters registered in Fall 2026 PreCanSkate and CanSkate programs.	December 13, 2026 1:30-2:30 PreStarSkate and StarSkate 3:00-4:30 PreCanSkate and CanSkate
Silent Auction	Collect prizes from corporate donors and participate in bidding on day of the event.	March 17, 2027	More details will be posted on the IESC website
Program Assistant Time (STARskaters Age 10 and above)	Attend PA training session and provide program assistance to the Canskate and Pre-Canskate program once per week.	N/A	PA Training is mandatory for registered StarSkaters age 10+, voluntary for those aged 8-9, and not required for those younger than 8

NOTE:

· Exceptions can be made for any member who provides funds to the club by way of sponsorships or other means.

The value of such funds will be determined and applied towards the above listed requirements.

· Skaters who join STARSkate mid-session will be required to fulfill the above requirements in a pro-rated fashion.
