What is Hockey/ Ringette Skating Skills Program?
Hockey/Ringette Skating Skills is designed for skaters 6 years of age or older who are playing hockey or ringette. Hockey/Ringette Skating participants must have basic forward and backward skating skills and be able to stop on command without use of the boards.
To register, skaters must be registered in hockey or ringette, and if moving from our CanSkate program must have passed Badge 3 including Balance, Agility and Control.
This is an instructional hockey/ringette skating program geared to hockey and ringette skaters that focuses on balance, transitions, stop, power, agility, speed and endurance. What makes a stronger hockey player is a strong skater. This program offers individual feedback, ongoing evaluation throughout and is customized to each level of athlete registered in the group. Skating needs to be worked on continually throughout the periodization of a hockey/ringette player's development and should be incorporated into every hockey/ringette player’s yearly training plan. Note that this is not a conditioning program but a TECHNICAL professionally coached program that has proven to work year after year to help skaters improve at quick rates to up their level of play.
For safety reasons participants should wear full hockey/ringette equipment that is CSA approved.

When you/your child registers for a Hockey/ Ringette Skating Skills program at Ice Edge Skating Club, you also become a member of Skate Canada, the national sport governing body for figure skating in Canada.
How does Hockey/ Ringette Skating Skills program work?
Hockey/Ringette Skating Skills is designed for skaters, six years of age or older who are already involved in the sport of hockey or ringette. The program helps to refine their skating abilities in a hockey/ ringette skating-specific environment, including balance skills, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning and agility skills.Bottom Content Title
