FALL 2023/ WINTER 2024 STARSKATE & PRESTARSKATE (STARGROUP) CLASSES

Dear families,

We are excited to open registration for the StarSkate & Pre-StarSkate Group Fall 2023/ Winter 2024 season. Early registration is appreciated so that the coaching team can plan for the lessons appropriately.

Click HERE to register by Friday, August 25 and take advantage of a discount which is applied when registering for multiple items (excluding dryland): e.g. 3 items 6% discount, 4 items 7% discount, 5 items 8% discount and so on!

All skaters must be registered with Skate Canada prior to taking to the ice. The annual membership fee is $58.65. Annual Skate Canada Membership and Insurance is valid from September 1 to August 31. The yearly Skate Canada membership will be applied to all skaters for Fall registration.

Also, a friendly reminder that all Ice Edge Skating Club members need to have an active CRCA (Chestermere Recreation Communication Association) membership. This membership can be purchased online at https://www.chestermerecrca.com/history/membership-info/ . Family memberships are $85.50 and provide a unique membership number for each family member added to the family account. Current members - please update your CRCA Number for each participant with their unique CRCA number in your account. New members – you will be asked to provide your CRCA Number at the time of registration.

The idea behind the membership is a user fee to help support the maintenance of the Recreation Centre that includes the ice arenas, soccer fields, ball diamonds, curling arena and the general up keep of the Center. It also helps fund many special events and activities offered at the Recreation Center. The membership offers benefits such as complimentary public skating, shinny times, drop – in figure skating times, and members receive a discount on various room bookings. The membership period runs from July 1 to June 30. If you have a child who currently plays hockey in Chestermere, you likely already have purchased a membership!

Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, 5:45 - 6:15pm

Fridays 5:30pm – 6:00pm

Sundays, 12:00pm – 1:00pm

Dry land benefits skaters immensely. It gives the coaches an opportunity to walk skaters through the proper techniques in jumps (including the use of our off – ice harness), spins (including the use of our spinners) and other elements so that they are able to execute them easier on ice. These sessions will also offer goal setting sessions, nutrition education and other strength building sessions to help our athletes lead a healthy, positive lifestyle. Proper techniques, increased flexibility and strength development also helps to prevent injuries!

Extra Morning Ice Training is also available for StarSkaters who desire extra edges, jumps and spins training. Coaching and ice time is included in registration fees.

Wednesdays 6:30 - 7:30am

Fridays 6:30 - 7:30am

Please keep in mind that the Long Term Athlete Development Plan (LTADP) from Skate Canada recommends the following:

7-11 years old skate 2-4 days a week 30-40 weeks a year

9-13 years old skate 4-5 days a week 1-2 sessions a day 40-46 weeks a year

10-16 years old skate 5 days a week 2-3 sessions a day 44-48 weeks a year

Choose a training schedule that can help your skater train the recommended number of hours, with the support of coaches who know exactly how to inspire and motivate them!

Additionally, please register your figure skater for these upcoming events which are free for skaters registered in our regular programs:
